Tai Chi as Physical Therapy




Everyday more doctors are recommending patients try Tai Chi as a form of physical therapy. The reasons are simple; it’s a low impact full body exercise that can easily be adjusted to suit each student’s intensity threshold. It’s slow fluid movements sharpen the mind and focus the spirit. The forms teach students how to move their bodies in the most natural, relaxed way possible.


This emphasis on smooth focused movements utilizing the hole body make Tai Chi an ideal exercise for anyone who is working to recover from any physical trauma. It’s easy to adapt to suit anyone’s needs. It will teach you how to sit, walk, stand, move and breathe. These are all such basic things we take for granted until we can’t do them anymore.



A patient’s sudden inability to perform tasks he could normally do without conscious thought is paralyzing during recovery. Tai Chi helps teach mindfulness and patience, integral tools in any physical therapy treatment. If you are undergoing treatment or therapy for any sort of trauma talk to your doctor about whether Tai Chi practice is right for you.

Sorry that's it's been so long, but ever since the birth of my son my life has had a lot of ups and downs. However things are finally beginning to settle down and it's time to start moving forward.
